Audrey & Thomas (BTS)

Hello book lovers! ❤

Last week I’ve finished reading “Hunting Prince Dracula”, the second book on “Stalking Jack the Ripper” series by Kerri Maniscalco, and I loved it! I don’t know yet which one I liked most yet but I’m sure that I’m more than ready to read the next one, I can’t wait!

In honor to the Audrey Rose Wadsworth and Thomas Cresswell, the main characters on the books, I decided to illustrate them in a cute chibi style! (They are so adorable together right?)

Drawing in chibi style is a recent thing for me, I’ve always liked drawing semi-real portraits but unfortunately I’m not the best at it so this style is more easier for me and I think it transmits the “cute” style that I love!

The fun thing about drawing these characters are their clothes, I really liked drawing this “old vintage” style, more than modern clothes 😂

I drew these characters on my iPad pro with the app procreate and finish them in Adobe Photoshop CC.

If you like these characters, they are available to purchase on my Etsy store as magnetic bookmarks (Click here). (In the future I want to make stickers too 😉) Here are some pictures of the product:

Emma (BTS)

Hello book lovers! ❤

Cassandra Clare is one of my favorite authors of all time since I read “The Mortal Instruments series” when I was younger. Since then I’ve read her other books and loved every one of them! Now I’m currently reading “Lord of Shadows” from “The Dark Artifices” series and I realized I haven’t done anything related to it, so I decided to draw Emma and make a bookmark to use while I’m reading this book!

I wanted to draw Emma Carstairs because I really like her as a character, and since drawing guys isn’t my strong, I had to choose her 😛

I did a sketch of her in my sketchbook with a pencil and when I was done I finished the illustration on my iPad Pro with the app Procreate as usual.

I confess I really like the result, drawing semi-realistic characters isn’t my strong but I like drawing once in a while! “Emma” bookmark is available to purchase in my Etsy store if you want one for yourself! (Click here)

Here are some photos of the product, you can find more details on the link above!

Sarai (BTS)

Hello book lovers! ❤

“Strange the Dreamer” was one of my favorite reads of 2017. It was a fantastic fantasy novel that I enjoyed every page!

The characters are so interesting and singular, that I had to do one at least one! I choose one of main characters, Sarai, to illustrate. What fascinated me in this character was her blue skin and her connection to moths, two distinctive elements that I’ve never draw before!

For the creation of this artwork I took a picture of myself with the pose I wanted for Sarai (It was the first time I did this and I think I’ll use this method in the future!) Then I used that picture as reference and draw a sketch in Procreate, using my iPad pro.

Then I traced the lines I wanted and started painting with base colors. After that, I use some shading to highlight the illustration and give a more complete look.

To finish the artwork I decided to draw some flowers and moths around Sarai and then I gave some final touches in Adobe Photoshop and it’s done!

“Sarai” is available on my Society6 and Redbubble stores (Click here), on a bunch of different products, here are some examples you can find:

Mulan (BTS)

Hello book lovers! ❤

Disney it’s always been present in my life since I could remember and so as art! Since I received my iPad pro I started to draw disney characters. I started with Belle and her book, but after her I started to draw the characters with their mascots, like a fluffy stuffed animal version of them!

So far I’ve drawn 6 characters, and my recent one is Mulan! Mulan wasn’t one my favorites when I was a kid, but since last year when I watched again the movie, I easily fell in love with the story and the characters this time! And since I’m currently reading “Flame in the Mist” by Renee Ahdieh which is a retelling of Mulan, I had the inspiration to draw this Disney character!

So for this collection I always start the illustration based on the previous character (In this case was Moana), and I draw over it, as you can see in the time-lapse bellow. The reason I do that is to keep the proportions and the position of the character in the same way. ezgif.com-video-to-gif

The only software I used was Procreate in my iPad pro. Drawing directly in the screen is the best way to create this characters! For this collection my method is always the same, I only use 4 layers: 1 for the sketch, 1 for the outline, 1 for color and shading and 1 for shadows and final details.

And this is the result! I’m planning selling magnetic bookmarks, stickers and badges in the future so don’t forget to give me a follow to get the updates! 😀
